The International European Union for Hospitality Honors the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality

 

The Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, which is one of the strategic partnership projects between The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and Al Hokair Group won the International Culinary Competition that was held under the International European Union of Hospitality “Eurhodip” in Faro, Portugal, 3-5 May, 2017.

The theme of the competition was "Culinary Arts"

The Institute was nominated along with twelve universities and educational institutions to participate in the competition.  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was the only Arab country that participated in the competition.

The first prize was awarded to Ahmed Al Zahrani for "Best Food and Drink Project", while Ali Al Amri received the award for “ Best Healthy Dish in the Mediterranean Region"

In addition to honoring the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, the official organizer of the competition, honored Fares Farraj, the Director of Regional Development and Training at the Institute, by asking him to be a judge due to his experience in the hotel industry, culinary arts and in judging international culinary competitions.  

The opportunity to participate in this competition came as a result of the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality membership in the Union along with over 150 universities and international institute of hospitality from around the world.  

For his part, Mr. Majid bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Hokair, the Chairman of the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, said that participating in this competition is a great achievement as it has attracted several universities, colleges and institutes specialized in the field of hospitality. Moreover, participating in such a competition enhances the practical and professional experience of the Saudi youth and motivates them to engage more in hospitality, as it is one of the most important sectors of our Government's 2030 Vision and the National Transition Program.

It is worth mentioning that the Higher Institute of Tourism and Hospitality was established in 2014 according to the highest international hotel standards applied in Swiss universities, including the University of "HTMI", which ranks 12 among the best hotel universities in the world
